ProsperRochester delivers the region's most comprehensive youth workforce preparation initiative, WellVentions, to youth 14-18 years of age from city, suburban and charter schools across the Greater Rochester region. This multifaceted initiative features the following paid activities for participants:
- Mentor-led training in leadership, business, entrepreneurship and social/emotional skills;
- Hands-on experience in product development, retail sales and team management through WellVentions, the region's only year-round, youth-run business, with its retail operation at the Rochester Public Market.
- Financial and Computer Literacy training and real-world, asset-building opportunities
- Youth creation of play-based lessons and learning tools, e.g., puppets, and mentoring sessions with younger children to impart the social-emotional skills they have developed.
Over the last twelve (12) years, ProsperRochester has served more than 1,200 teens, many of whom have started their own businesses or not-for-profit organizations, become chefs, artists, business leaders and podcasters.
